The newest instalment of the Blair Witch franchise hits UK cinemas today. Workplace Stuff is a company that sells all sorts of different products ideal for use in the workplace. In addition to this, we also have a focus on health and safety. So we take a look at 5 industrial products always absent from horror movies which could otherwise prevent these disasters.
Now, if you’ve seen a horror film before, you will know how ‘silly’ some of the character’s choice
s truly are. Examples include;
- Going down a basement on your own when your house has been haunted for months
- Dropping a weapon next to a presumed unconcious/dead attacker
- Thinking it’s a good idea to go to a remote cabin AND trust a sheriff
- Not having your phone on silent
- Running up stairs or an area to which there is no escape via window or door
- Reading aloud an old mythical book with illustrations
- “let’s split up to cover more ground” – NO!
…and plenty more.
If only they had horror-proofed their homes or at least had items to aid their escape. Industrial products they could make use of include; speed ramps, safety signs, observation mirrors, cycle rack/shelter and plastic chain. Let us explain…
Speed Ramps
As you well know, a speed ramp will slow a car down. Although it could be argued that both parties (victim and attacker) would be slowed down, you can’t help but think there’s a better chance of getting away.
Safety Signs
More so to deter ‘victims’ from entering somewhere they shouldn’t be. Abandoned house, old wreckage etc. a prohibited sign could warn off some individuals not wanting to invoke trouble.
Observation Mirrors
Perfect pretty much anywhere. Have one under the bed so you don’t actually have to peer under there yourself. A 360 mirror (if positioned correctly) could actually give the victim an advantage so they can plan their escape.
Cycle Rack/Shelter
There’s nothing wrong with a good old-fashioned bike. When a car fails you (as they often do in this specific genre), all the adrenaline accumulated from your ordeal will help you escape. You
‘d need a bike rack with a shelter ideally to store this piece of potentially live-saving transport.
Plastic Chain
If all else fails, you might have to resort to using plastic chain to tie a person up…until the police arrive of course. In the meantime, it can also be used for connecting plastic posts to create a barrier.
