Create A Changing Room From Scratch

The majority of the time there is always room for improvement. This can be achieved in a number of different ways, by changing what you already have or starting afresh. It dawned on us that people might like to undertake these project themselves but could be unsure how to proceed. As you well know, we’re a supplier of products for the workplace and the home. As a result we put our own list together of products that could be used to create a changing room from scratch.

You will see changing rooms at schools, gyms, swimming areas and maybe even the workplace. Determine your end game – do you want the room to be water resilient, easier to maintain, non-slip? Once you have a clear picture in your head you can start looking at what you’ll need to kit it out.

Our changing room is for a swimming area

What we will need:

  • Changing Benches
  • Floor Tiles
  • Lockers

1) Changing Benchesstainless-changing-room-benches-blog

There are different types of benches to choose from. Choosing the ‘right’ one depends on where it will be used. For a wet area such as a swimming changing room, stainless steel is generally the preferred choice. The polished stainless finish provides resistance to water and humidity and is very easy to clean. It’s also worth mentioning its wooden counterpart cloakroom benches – a cost-effective budget bench which can also be used in gyms, schools and other dry areas.

Our Choice: Stainless Steel Changing Benches

2) Floor Tileswet-area-matting-diamond-grid-for-changing-room-blog

Slippery areas can wreak havoc for health and safety if the correct matting isn’t used. Specialised wet area matting is easy to install and can combat slips as a result. Not just limited to the perimeter of a swimming pool; there are many times of non-slip matting that could be used for different purposes. Food/catering, drinking establishments, factories etc. are just a few examples – the flexi-deck PVC tiles are perfect for this. Staying loyal to the theme, we’d opt for the Diamond Grid matting as this is also comfortable for bare feet.

3) Lockersplastic-lockers-probe-ultrabox-for-changing-room-blog

Last but not least, lockers. Any of our vast array of lockers would be able to accommodate and provide safe storage of personal belongings. However, from a maintenance point of view, there is one stand-out star in the name of plastic lockers. The Ultrabox range boast many impressive qualities such as an anti-bacterial coating to protect against the likes of E.coli and other harmful bacteria. In addition to this, they are also corrosion-proof meaning that water will not rust them.  A drain hole in each compartment gets rid of excess water. They are suitable for outdoor use as a result of this. An added bonus is presented with the choice of lock options, coin-retaining locks are popular for use in public areas.

Our Choice: Ultrabox Plastic Lockers (Standard or Plus Model)

There we have it, everything we would need to create a sustainable changing room for use in wet areas. If you’re looking to start a project and would like our help, please let us know via the contact form, or you can also call us on 01278 783322
