Stair Climber Sack Truck; What Is It?

Those of you who work or have worked in the food industry will be all too familiar with the modest Stair Climber Sack Truck. It pretty much does what its name suggests (unfortunately it doesn’t climb on its own, therefore manual operation is required). What sets this particular type of sack truck apart from the many others out there are its wheels.

If you receive regular deliveries of goods to your warehouse, eatery etc. a form of equipment to carry the load will be necessary. Lifting goods by hand would cause unwarranted stress to your body. It would also take too much time. Where other viable methods exist it’s best to utilise them.

How do you retrieve goods from a lorry kerbside when your sack truck won’t lift over the kerb?

…that’s where a stair climber comes in. Unlike standard solid wheels, pneumatic or puncture-proof; stair climber wheels are comprised of three smaller wheels in a triangular dimension. The triangle wheel formation rotates when force is applied. This2 In 1 Stair Climber Sack Truck allows the sack truck to easily ‘climb’ steps or kerbs in a smooth, controlled manner. The body of the sack truck is much the same to others within its field, toe plate sizes may vary as they do in all other ranges.

Beware; Health and Safety

Not only are they practical, they’re safer too. Standard sack trucks are not equipped to deal with anything but a somewhat level surface. Using a ‘normal’ sack truck to do the work of a stair climber can be dangerous as the ride going up a flight of stairs will jilt which could results in broken goods and injuries to staff and/or customers, therefore imposing a health and safety risk too. Delivery drivers are understandably fond of these, as are bar owners – whether to bring in new deliveries or retrieve stock from the cellar.

To conclude, a stair climber sack truck is able to access areas that a standard truck can’t. The ‘star’ wheeled design enables kerb and step obstructions to be a thing of the past. The wheels rotate when force is applied – no more struggling up over the kerb, the stair climber will glide instead. Hospitals, bars, warehouses, shops will greatly benefit from the decreased health and safety risk as a result.

We have a number of different models to choose from; all of which slightly vary from one another. For further information call us on 01278 783322.
