Their purpose is to hold tickets, barcodes, notices and other form of labelling behind a protective barrier so that they withstand general wear and tear that would occur in a commercial/industrial environment.
A magnetic fixing would be better suited as a temporary fixture, for example if you know that the label won’t be required for long, as it can then simply be taken off and moved elsewhere; whereas the self-adhesive backing is better suited for placement for longevity due to its sticky-back. Labels are simply inserted behind the transparent cover which then holds the label firmly in place for easy use. This can prove particularly beneficial for product identification or the scanning of a barcode, useful if conducting a stock take, as barcodes won’t get mixed up if they are stuck to the racking and spaced out accordingly in regards to their associated product.
