It also prevents the salt/grit inside the hopper from becoming moist and clogging up. This would otherwise result in the spreader not working as efficiently as it should be. The resilient plastic cover can ensure you spend less time gritting the carpark, walkway or roadside and more time inside with warmer temperatures.
